$7 Each

(Approximately $4.70 per patch* goes to Ukraine)

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR PURCHASING LINKS

As a result of the Russian invasion, there are major needs for humanitarian relief in Ukraine and for Ukrainian refugees. As they have done for over a century, Scouts are volunteering to help with collection and distribution of aid. Scouts in the Ukraine need our help. Vivi H. of Troop 72, Austin, Texas, thought of this idea and created this patch with her mom to sell to generate funds to help Scouts in Ukraine. The patch features the Ukrainian flag colors and the logo of "Plast" - Scouting in Ukraine.
Net proceeds of sale of patches (approximately $4.70 each) will be donated to the World Organization of the Scout Movement, working through the International Scouting Committee of the Capitol Area Council (Austin, TX), specifically for use in Ukraine.
Patches will ship via USPS First Class mail (included in price) as inventory is available - Stock running low as of early September, 2022, but all open orders have been filled. More patches coming soon.  Current patches read "Capitol Area Council TX"
Patches are 3" Diameter, Temporary Patches for uniform wear, manufactured by Class B and they are BSA licensed.

Note: If you just wish to donate, you can either use the Venmo link and donate any specific amount you like, or you can purchase patches and then write us to tell us not to ship them to you (or ship just one or two) and 'donate' the rest which we can then resell and make that much more money.

* The total donation per patch varies depending on whether it is sold in-person or shipped (postage), credit card processing fees vs. cash, etc.

"The International Scouting Committee of the Capitol Area Council is working with Vivi H. and supporting this project to sell Ukraine Relief Patches to help raise funds for Scouting in Ukraine and supervising the Messengers of Peace Award project associated with this fundraising project. We hope many U.S. Scouts will join this effort to help our fellow Scouts, and their communities, in Ukraine."

Messengers of Peace Award

Scouts anywhere in the country can earn the Messengers of Peace Ring for their uniform (goes around the purple World Crest Emblem as shown) by helping raise awareness about the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and selling these patches to raise funds to help.

Earning the Messengers of Peace Ring is itself a requirement for earning the International Spirit Award.

Scouts can earn the Messengers of Peace Ring by completing this project:

  1. Buy (at least) 5 Ukraine Relief Patches at links above.

  2. Download and print out: Ukraine Patch MOP Project Tracking Form

  3. Learn about the situation in Ukraine. Go to this site for more information from the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM): https://www.scout.org/Ongoing-Scouts-Emergency-Response-in-Ukraine

  4. Discuss the situation in Ukraine with at least ten adults. Keep track and get signatures from the adults on the form.

  5. Re-sell at least five Ukraine Relief Patches. Order more if you sell more!

  6. Send a photo of the tracking form to: ukrainereliefpatch@gmail.com

  7. You will receive a letter from the Capitol Area Council International Scouting Committee verifying you completed the requirements for the Messengers of Peace Award, which you can then give to your unit's Advancement Chair or Scoutmaster and they will get you the MOP Ring.

  8. Encourage other Scouts in your unit to also earn the MOP Ring and help your fellow Scouts in Ukraine!

Frequently Asked Questions

This is a block description. To edit, click and type the text or replace it with your own custom content

How do you figure how much is donated to Ukraine?

The total donation per patch depends on various factors, including how much the patch cost to produce (ordered in different size batches, so the per-patch cost varies); whether it is shipped or sold in-person (postage or not); whether it is paid in cash or over a credit card (processing fees, or not), etc. So far we have managed to only use free/leftover envelopes for shipping, but that will eventually become a cost.

How does the money get to Ukraine?

The World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) maintains a fund to help Scouts in Ukraine. We will simply wire the money to them when the time comes.

Who makes the patches? Are they licensed by BSA?

The patches are manufactured by Class B (who have awesome customer service, by the way), and they are official licensed BSA merchandise. The patches feature the BSA logo on the reverse side showing they are officially licensed.

Can I order larger quantities?

Of course! The price will remain the same - this is for charity and our goal is maximizing the donation - but please contact us at ukrainereliefpatch@gmail.com to ask about larger orders.

When will I receive my order?

That is a good question, and the answer varies. We try to ship in-stock orders within two days of receipt of the order. They ship by regular USPS First Class mail, so it is then up to the post office. However, there is a lead time for resupply when inventory gets low so there may be a delay of up to a month depending on how the orders shake out. We apologize for any delay.

Can any Scout in the country earn the Messengers of Peace?

Earning the Messengers of Peace ring for your uniform requires doing a MOP-related project. The International Committee of the Capitol Area Council (Texas) has help us create a MOP project for raising awareness of how Scouts are helping with humanitarian relief efforts in Ukraine and selling patches to raise funds. Any Scout in the country can do the MOP project and the International Committee will forward a note to the Scout's adult leaders that the Scout has earned the MOP award. That Scout's unit will then get the ring for the Scout.
